Basic Legislation
• Directive 2005/36/EC as amended by Directive 2013/55/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council.
This is the directive concerning the recognition of professional qualifications.
- Legislative Decree of 9 November 2007, No. 206, as amended by Legislative Decree of 28 January 2016, No. 15, implementing Directive 2013/55/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council, which amends Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications and Regulation (EU) No. 1024/2012 on administrative cooperation through the Internal Market Information System (“IMI Regulation”).
This is the transposing legislative decree, which refers to the annexes included in the Directive.
Specific National Legislation
for each of the professions (listed in Annex IV of the Directive and the Legislative Decree) for which the recognition of equivalent professional qualifications obtained abroad falls under the responsibility of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy*:
- Installation of systems (Ministerial Decree of 22 January 2008, No. 37, Art. 1(2); Art. 3(1); Art. 4)

Sectors: mechatronics; bodywork; tire service – Role: technical manager. - Cleaning services (Ministerial Decree of 7 July 1997, No. 274, Art. 1(1); Art. 2(3))
Sectors: pest control; rodent control; sanitation – Role: technical manager. - Hairdresser (Law of 17 August 2005, No. 174)

*Pursuant to Legislative Decree 206/2007, recognition is under the competence of each Region, which must identify a competent authority for this purpose. Until such an authority is identified, the recognition of foreign qualifications is carried out by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.
It is therefore in the interest of the applicant to check whether the Region where they intend to practice has designated such an authority.
